How To Keep Christ in Christmas (Knights of Columbus)
How Can You Keep Christ in Christmas? The home is the best place to teach and reinforce our faith with our children as well as sharing our faith with friends and extended family visiting during the Advent and Christmas seasons. As you plan to celebrate Christmas, consider including some new (old) practices and, if they fit your family, make them a tradition in your home. Keep Christ in Christmas!
Send Christmas cards proclaiming the birth of our savior! The knights will be selling Christ-centered cards beginning November 26.
Make Advent a time of preparation and anticipation in your home – be intentional!
Prayer and Worship – Choose a prayer from Online Catholic or another site to pray with your family each day during Advent.
Formation – Learn one new thing about the Advent or Christmas season. Share it with others.
Service – Give your family the gift of spending one hour with someone who has no one at this time of year. Share Christmas stories, songs, food.
Fellowship – Take time with the ones you love without electronics to listen to one another and experience Christ in one another – Emmanuel.
Prominently display a crèche (nativity scene) in your home – give it a place of respect and honor that allows for instruction and discussion. Keep it there until after the Feast of the Epiphany (January 8, 2023)
Learn more about the Christmas Novena and consider embracing it this year (December 16-25).
Or, the St. Andrew Christmas Novena.
Remember, Christmas is a season, not a day. It begins on December 25 and ends on January 8. Jesus encourages us to come to Him with the delight and awe of a child on Christmas morning.
