Transfiguration will host families experiencing homelessness for 4 weeks this summer. Our parish is blessed with many returning volunteers who bring big hearts and generous spirits. This past winter, we also witnessed incredible compassion from those who served at the warming center – thank you.
The volunteer roles for Family Promise are similar to those at the warming center and we are always looking for new volunteers to join us. This is a beautiful opportunity to care for families in need – families who may arrive as strangers, become our guests, and leave as neighbors.
There are many ways that you can help:
- Assist with loading and unloading the van that carries beds and personal belongings.
- Donate essential food items (e.g., breakfast and lunch staples).
- Prepare and serve dinners.
- Spend the night at the church with our guest families.
Even the smallest role makes a big difference and the rewards are immeasurable.
For those new to this ministry or for those who would like a refresher, we invite you to come to an informative training session date May 29th in the Adult Lounge at 7:00 P.M. Please RSVP at familypromise@transfiguration.com.
NOTE: Volunteers spending the night must be VIRTUS trained and background checked, as children are involved. Please check your VIRTUS status with the church office.

Transfiguración acogerá a familias sin hogar durante 4 semanas este verano. Nuestra parroquia está bendecida con muchos voluntarios que regresan y que traen grandes corazones y espíritus generosos. El invierno pasado, también fuimos testigos de una compasión increíble por parte de quienes sirvieron en el centro de acogida; gracias.
Los roles de voluntariado para Family Promise son similares a los del centro de acogida y siempre estamos buscando nuevos voluntarios que se unan a nosotros. Esta es una hermosa oportunidad para cuidar a las familias necesitadas – familias que pueden llegar como extraños, convertirse en nuestros invitados y marcharse como vecinos.
Hay muchas maneras en las que puedes ayudar:
Ayudar a cargar y descargar la furgoneta que transporta las camas y las pertenencias personales.
Donar alimentos esenciales (por ejemplo, productos básicos para el desayuno y el almuerzo).
Preparar y servir cenas.
Pasar la noche en la iglesia con nuestras familias invitadas.
Incluso el papel más pequeño marca una gran diferencia y las recompensas son inmensurables.
