Volunteer Training for the Transfiguration Warming Center
“Extending Christ’s warmth and welcome this winter”
As we prepare to open our Warming Center for homeless women beginning December 1 through the end of February, we invite parishioners to prayerfully consider joining this compassionate ministry of hospitality and care.
The Warming Center provides a safe, warm, and welcoming space for women experiencing homelessness on cold winter nights — offering not just shelter, but dignity, friendship, and the light of Christ’s love.
To prepare our volunteers, we are offering two training sessions (parishioners may attend one or both):
- Thursday, November 13 at 7:00 PM – Adult Lounge
Focus: Understanding the psychosocial needs of our guests and an overview of the Warming Center’s mission and operations. - Saturday, November 15 at 10:00 AM – Family Life Center Youth Room
Focus: General orientation, volunteer expectations, safety procedures, and ministry logistics.
Whether you’ve served before or are joining for the first time, your presence and compassion make a difference. Come learn how we can serve together as a parish family and share the warmth of God’s love with those who need it most.
