What is the Derby Day Dinner Auction?
When the parish was much younger, a group of people came together to create this remarkable concept. What if individuals planned small get-togethers in their homes and Church could arrange a fun event to auction these dinners? They pulled it off and it is back. Bring people together from throughout the parish to enjoy good food, good friends and good fun!
Since it’s planned for May 2, we’re combining some fun Kentucky Derby events (watch the race, derby hats, derby theme tables, Transfiguration Juleps, horse race draw) with the dinner auction. Derby Day attire encouraged but not required.
The Dinner Auction has always been a FREE event and open to all members of the parish. Enjoy some appetizers, desserts and beverages.
All proceeds benefit the Chapel and Family Life Center renovations (for Family Promise and Warming Center) and ChrisTeen Mission trip.
What exactly is auctioned?
Many parishioners graciously plan and host events and parties of all sorts throughout the upcoming year. They volunteer and do all the prep, providing brunches, lunches, dinners and others experiences on which you can bid. Events can be simple or elaborate!
Past events have included an Italian Night, Sunday brunch, German Gourmet Dinner and summer cookout. Consider hosting a dinner with a friend.
How do I buy these dinners?
Attend the Derby Day Dinner Auction on May 2. Bring your calendar, credit card (preferred), check book. Enjoy Derby Day events, appetizers, Transfiguration Julep, beer and wine while socializing.
Explore the menus of the dinners to be auctioned and bid on the ones that interest you.
I won the bid, now what?
At the end of the evening, you will pay for the dinners you were successful in bidding on and receive detailed info for each dinner. Your host/hostess will contact you to confirm and then remind you at least 2 weeks in advance of the event.
You attend, enjoy great food, meet new people and make new friends.
