Our Great Journey
This week our theme is “Spirit of Truth” based on John 16:12-15/ Juan 16:12-15
Registration for 2025-2026 is open, Click HERE.
Opening Prayer:
All pray the Sign of the Cross
Father,
You sent your Word to bring us truth
and your Spirit to make us holy.
Through them we come to know the mystery of your life.
Help us to worship you, one God in three persons,
You reveal yourself in the depths of our being,
by proclaiming and living our faith in you.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God for ever and ever. Amen
The Liturgy of the Hours
Using the Bible, invite a family member to read the Gospel aloud.
.
Things to talk about:
- What truth is Jesus referring to in today’s Gospel?
- Why is it important to be truthful?
- In today’s Gospel, Jesus promises the Spirit of truth to guide his disciples after he departs from them. Do you ever hear the Spirit of truth guiding you? It might be in your own choice to tell the truth when a lie would be easier or to do the right thing when that is difficult. Can you listen for the voice of truth inside you?”
- When you think of God, which “person” of the Trinity do you most identify with: Father/Creator, Son, or Holy Spirit? Why?
Things to do:
- Pack up the family and go on a shamrock hunt. The shamrock is often used as an analogy for the Trinity, representing the unity and distinctions of the Persons of God. While four-leaf clovers are symbols of good luck around the world, we are looking for three-leaf clovers to remind us of the Trinity. Go to a local park, nature preserve, pasture, or school field. The best hunting grounds for shamrocks are in patches of white clovers.
- Make Dad’s 3 Ingredient pancakes (click here for recipe) or Triple Berry Trinity Trifle (click here for recipe)
- Honor Dad–Fatherhood is a vocation. Just as God the Father takes care of his children, our earthly fathers take care of us. On this Father’s Day, do something special for your dad or a father figure in your life. Here are some ways to treat Dad today: Serve him breakfast in his favorite chair (see the recipe above for Dad’s 3 Ingredient pancakes😉 Prepare a special dessert for him (see the recipe for Triple Berry Trinity Trifle😉 Help your dad wash the car; Make a card or write him a letter, Light a candle in the chapel for him; Say a prayer for him.
Closing Prayer
Reflection on the Trinity
On this Trinity Sunday, think about each Person of the Trinity by doing an extended reflection on the Sign of the Cross.
Gather the family together for a time of meditative prayer. You may consider playing some instrumental music in the background. Bring a notebook or prayer journal to write down your reflections. Select one person to lead the meditation. Pause after each set of questions and invite family members to write or draw. Share your answers after the prayer.
In the name of the Father
- How have I encountered God’s love?
- How do I feel his protection and care?
- When do I turn to him?
- How does he encourage me?
and of the Son
- What was Jesus like when he was little?
- How does Mass help me grow closer to Jesus?
- How can I grow my friendship with him?
and of the Holy Spirit
- Where has the Holy Spirit worked in my life this past week?
- How has the Holy Spirit brought me hope?
- What direction do I need from the Holy Spirit?
Amen.
Name those who need our prayers. Close with the Sign of the Cross.
Catholic Insights

This Sunday we celebrate both Father’s Day and The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity.
Jesus’ words in John 16:14-15 offer a glimpse into the profound unity of the Trinity. He explains that “What the Father has, the Son also has; and what the Son has, the Spirit takes and declares to us.” This depicts the Father, Son, and Spirit in a constant, loving exchange—a divine dance where all is shared. More remarkably, this passage underscores the astonishing generosity of the Triune God, who extends an invitation for humanity to partake in this divine life. Through the Spirit, everything belonging to the Father and Son is revealed to us.
The Gospel of John also tells us that Jesus didn’t fully reveal his identity to his disciples during his earthly ministry. Instead, he spoke of the coming Spirit, who would lead them into all truth. It is this beautiful mystery of the Trinity that we ponder today.
Did you know….Trinity Sunday, celebrated by Western churches, marks the first Sunday after Pentecost and honors the mystery of the Holy Trinity, one God existing in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It’s liturgical color is white. The rose is the official flower of Father’s Day, with white roses representing deceased fathers and red roses representing living fathers.
