Transfiguration Giving Tree

This tradition returns with a tree full of tags that represent the needs of members of our community who find themselves in need at Christmas.
Soon, the tree will be decorated with tags that represent opportunities to give. As you and your family select which wishes to fulfil, please follow the instructions given on the tag. Esta tradición regresa con un árbol lleno de etiquetas que representan las necesidades de los miembros de nuestra comunidad en Navidad.

Our Transfiguration family always makes Christmas a little brighter
for our less fortunate brothers & sisters through our Giving Tree
– we’re just doing it a little differently this year.

You will pick an organization (Or Two) that you will support by taking a tag from out physical tree in the narthex. All Tags are selected! Great work Transfiguration !

Lets Talk about the Elephant in (Not in) the Room. Where’s the tree?
Good question with a good answer. “We are blessed to know two things about this parish” in the words of Long Time Parishioner and good guy, Bruce Kile, “We love free food and giving.” True. It happened that the first week of the Giving Tree EVERY Tag for every organization was selected. That left us with an empty tree. Unusual for our Giving Tree as there are usually opportunities for selecting a tag all the way up to the last weekend of this event. Thanks be to God for the generosity of this parish.
As it is Advent and not Christmas, it seemed right to allow the tree to fulfil it’s purpose in another area of the church. We believe it is proper to let our Narthex area reflect the season of Advent in this time. It also gives the Giving Tree volunteers (Who are Amazing) an opportunity to keep better tabs on the gifts being returned and sorted. Each week they must move the returned gifts to a secure spot for sorting. That keeps our Narthex clear for everyone’s safety and the gifts secure for those who are expecting to receive the gifts of our generosity.
It’s not free food.. You can join us for Hospitality on December 11 for that… but it is the reason. We thank you for understanding that we are all doing new things. The presence of the presents will remain in a new way. We hope that you will offer a prayer of thanks for our community and compassion for those who will share in our blessings this season.

Provide in-home care for the terminally ill
The Lingap Center
Transfiguration’s international outreach ministry for abandoned children located in the Philippines / Ministerio de ayuda Internacional de Transfiguración para niños abandonados en Filipinas.
Our Lady of Perpetual Help
A Catholic Hospice home for the terminally ill.
Ross Memorial Health Care Center
A Marietta nursing home assisting low income residents with no families / Asilo de ancianos en Marietta para residentes de bajos ingresos y sin familia.
Sheltering Grace Ministry
